Rutherford County Fire Dept. Sets Fire to Show How Good Fire Sprinklers Work

If you built a new house in the county and the home was not near a fire hydrant, would you install a home fire sprinkler system? Rutherford County is in the process of deciding what new rules should be implemented to require future homes outside the city limits of Murfreesboro to have a sprinkler system.
The Rutherford County Fire and Rescue Department set fire to two rooms on Thursday to demonstrate the difference between a room with a sprinkler system and a room without a sprinkler system.  Chief Larry Farley told WGNS…
 
Not everyone is FOR the idea of requiring new county homes to have a fire sprinkler system. The local homebuilders association says the requirement would tack on an additional $4,000 to $6,000 for a new home.
