CONCORD -- Firefighters are thanking kitchen sprinklers for helping put out a fire that could have gotten out of control inan apartment early Saturday afternoon.
At 12:45 p.m., crews responded to reports of a blaze at an apartment building in the 2100 block of California Street, Contra Costa Fire Personnel tweeted.
Crews arriving on the scene saw some smoke coming from a second-floor apartment.
Thankfully, fire sprinklers greatly helped to extinguish the blaze, which started in the apartment's kitchen, according to the Contra Costa Fire Protection's Twitter feed.
The fire was deemed under control in less than 15 minutes.
No injuries were reported in connection with the fire. It is unclear how much damage the fire did cause to the apartment, however.
"Fire sprinklers saved lives and property today," the fire district's tweet stated.
