Home Fire Sprinklers Designed to Save Lives, Local Demonstration to Show How

from  estesparknews.com

smoke-detectorMore than 80 percent of all fire deaths occur in the home. Sprinklers and smoke alarms together cut your risk of dying in a home fire by 82% relative to having neither. Home fire sprinkler systems keep a fire small and reduce the amount of heat and smoke, giving people time to escape and in many cases they put the fire out completely.
To help with understanding the benefits of having in-home fire sprinkler systems, the South Dakota Fire Departments of Pennington County, Fire and Life Safety Educators of Colorado, and the Estes Valley Fire Protection District will share a live, side-by-side fire and sprinkler burn demonstration that vividly shows the tremendous speed of a typical home fire and its potential for deadly destruction. Also illustrated is the vital importance of home fire safety technology that can save lives and reduceproperty damage (smoke alarms and home fire sprinkler systems). Additional information will help people of every age recognize how dangerous a home fire is, and how important prevention, detection, suppression and escape are to saving lives and property.
The demonstration is open to the public and takes place on Wednesday, April 17th at 5:00 p.m. at the Fairgrounds at Stanley Park, 1209 Manford Avenue in Estes Park, CO, northeast of the grandstands. This is a correction of a previously announced location.
