EUGENE, Ore. -- A smokey fire set off the emergency sprinkler system inside Sports Authority Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.
Firefighters arrived at the store inside Valley River Center just before 12:30 p.m. Friday to find a small fire burning on the second floor.
Eugene fire chief Jeff Kronser said that the fire produced a lot of smoke and caused a sprinkler to activate.
Chief Kronser reported some smoke and water damage to the building and products on the second floor.
This is a developing story. Updates can be found in this evening's broadcast or posted on this website when they are available.
